Saliva and Urine

Description

DUTCH is the most advanced hormone test, offering an extensive profile of sex and adrenal hormones and melatonin, along with their metabolites, to identify symptoms of hormonal imbalances.

The DUTCH Plus includes all the same markers as the DUTCH Complete Test, plus the Cortisol Awakening Response (CAR) and an optional nighttime Insomnia Cortisol measurement.

Measuring the rise and fall of cortisol levels at waking can be used as a “mini stress test” A low or blunted CAR can be a result of an underactive HPA axis, excessive psychological burnout, seasonal affective disorder (SAD), sleep apnoea or poor sleep in general, PTSD, chronic fatigue and/or chronic pain. A decreased CAR has also been associated with systemic hypertension, functional GI diseases, postpartum depression, and autoimmune diseases. An elevated Cortisol Awakening Response can be a result of an over-reactive HPA axis, ongoing job-related stress (anticipatory stress for the day), glycaemic dysregulation, pain (i.e. waking with painful joints or a migraine), and general depression (not SAD).

Description

MTHFR is essentially short for Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase. The MTHFR gene test is a useful and powerful assessment to obtain information from for a variety of health conditions. However, one of the main roles of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase is simply because it is a key enzyme required to metabolise homocysteine. If you are tested positive for certain mutations such as C677T which is the most common gene that is seen in most people then supplementation may be required for this. Individuals with two copies of this mutation, e.g. one inherited from their mother and one from their father, are called homozygous.

Breath test

Description

The Lactulose Breath Test evaluates for small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) by detecting both hydrogen and methane gas in the breath following the ingestion of lactulose (fermentable sugar). Lactulose breath testing for the diagnosis of SIBO is widely used by medical practitioners worldwide. A double-blind randomized study revealed that 84% of IBS patients exhibited bacterial overgrowth based on lactulose breath testing.

Once bacterial overgrowth has been detected, intervention strategies involving diet, digestive support, probiotics and antimicrobials can be used to treat the condition.

Description

Food sensitivities can cause a wide range of symptoms and disorders. The foods that cause these delayed reactions are often hard to diagnose because of the time between consumption and the physical reaction. The IgG food allergy test offers a useful tool for detecting the foods causing this response. The results are patient specific and provide an easy, precise and effective starting point for dietary modification.

Hair or Saliva

Description

Food Bio-compatibility Testing (600+ items) is a simple, non-invasive test that requires a small sample of hair (or saliva) to identify the influence (positive or negative) that a wide range of foods and household products have on an individual’s body at a cellular level . This way we can determine which foods and products will need to be avoided and which ones can be used. Each person is unique so it obviously follows that when it comes to foods and household products that ‘one size does not fit all’.

NOTE this not a food allergy or intolerance test, but rather a personalised compatibility test. It should not be used to diagnose or treat any medical condition.

What does the Hair Analysis test for?
The standard Australian test covers a list of over 600 standard items – including all food groups, bathroom, laundry, and kitchen products. There are two more speciality lists — one for testing Australian Baby (we have had a lot of success helping mums and babies with troublesome symptoms) and one for pets. For more information about this test, please email us at info@minimalistnaturopath.com

Blood test

Description

The Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis (FBCA) is an extremely valuable, efficient, and affordable method for assessing your health status. Unlike traditional blood tests that rely on “pathological” reference ranges to diagnose diseases, FBCA utilises “optimal” ranges to evaluate the risk of diseases and identify underlying health issues before they progress into serious conditions. By detecting problems at an early stage, FBCA enables the possibility of reversing or preventing many health issues.
